Self-hypnosisThere is no other way to do hypnosis than self-hypnosis. It is you who put yourself in a hypnotic state of mind. You change to different state mind during the day. The difference is when you have someone else, like a coach or therapist to guide you, you may achieve more. But it is still you who put yourself in an altered state of mind.
IS IT DANGEROUS TO GO IN A DEEP TRANCE
If you operate heavy machinery or if you are driving a car or any other vehicle, we do not recommend to be in a deep trance, but rather in a wakeful and alert trance, just like when doing mindfulness. Sometimes I find it useful not to completely break a deeper trance immediately, just to give the participant a feeling of how deep he/she really has been. |
DEFINITION OF HYPNOSIS OR TRANCE
In this context we may define hypnosis as an altered state of mind with increased awareness and responsiveness to ideas Another easier definition is; “Hypnosis is a state mind” That means that we are always in hypnosis or trance since we are in a state of mind at any time. We are often not in a relaxed state of mind, but we are in a state mind. We are not always in a useful state mind either and that is why we have hypnotherapy, TransForm Process and Neuro-Linguistic Programming; these are all methods you can learn, so you may choose the best state of mind at any time. If you are going into a meeting; it is good to choose which state of mind you want to be in during the meeting. It is not very helpful to be in a stressful state of mind, neither a tiered or bored state mind. Probably the best is to be open-minded, relaxed, energetic and awake, creative if that is useful or focused if that is more useful. “Being too focused for instance in a creative phase may not be useful. So it is useful to learn how to be able to choose the best state of mind.” |
